Seaside School
Forest School SNPT has taken its inspirational approach to learning and play to a beach setting. This is suitable for children of all ages, all abilities, all needs. We offer taster days, ongoing programmes and integrated Forest School between woodlands and on beaches. Our qualified Forest School leaders have a bundle of great new ideas and activities for the seaside including hunting in rock pools, sailing driftwood boats, crawling along the sand like crabs, digging in the sand looking for treasure, building a shelter, making patterns with stones and shells along with all the old favourites. We bring along our bespoke beach camp with beach pod shelter, seashore puppets, fire circle and flags. We are hoping to deliver an Agored Cymru qualification for people interested in becoming a Coastal School Practitioner but in the meantime check out our CPD course on Beach Discovery.
Forest School Taster Days
Taster days can be arranged for whole classes or community groups at a local woodland site Contact us
Regular sessions
We offer regular weekly sessions in the woods for groups of children and young people from a school or community group over the whole year. Occasionally it is possible for a group to have just one term. Early Years children (aged 3-6) usually come for a half day at first. Young people can have the chance to achieve an OCN level 1 in Basic Practical Forest School Skills. For some, this may be the only qualification they will ever get whilst at school. In the future we hope to provide regular group sessions for individuals. Contact us
Information, Support & Consultation
Information, Support and Consultation for people setting up their own Forest School. Many local primary schools have decided to adopt the Forest School approach to learning and are training teachers to become Forest School Leaders and other staff and parents to support them. This keeps the child:staff ratio small which is crucial for a Forest School. Some have school grounds which can be used or others find ways to transport their children to local woodlands. We can advise on the practical setting up and sometimes arrange for volunteers to come and help create the fire circle area. Contact us
Forest School Kindergarten & Parent and Toddler Groups
We’ve been running open Forest School activities for children aged 0-5 years for the past 4 years at Kilvrough Manor and more recently in Bishop’s Wood and on the beach at Caswell. We are about to expand to providing an extra session each week during term-time. Get in touch for more details. Contact us
Forest Fun Parties
“That was the best party…EVER!” – Tom (age 8)
Well, we don’t like to brag too much but Forest Fun parties have been going down a treat here in Bishop’ s Wood. We will run a bunch of our favourite activities such as den building, toasting marshmallows, run around games and woodland challenges. We will provide refreshments to include a drink and a hot dog. We will provide two qualified Forest School workers and all the equipment needed. All you need to do is put on the face paint and start playing. £170 for a two hour party for up to 15 children. Contact us to book.
Corporate Staff Development and Team Building
Why not organise a special half day or day to inspire your staff, get them out of the office, face individual and team challenges and have fun. More details here or Contact us to book.
Forest Fun Days
Forest Fun Days take place in school holidays for 8 to 14 year olds. We hold these at sites close to the local communities. Some are Open Access Play Schemes. Some schemes are free in particular areas.
Training
Many adults love to work outdoors doing practical tasks, don’t mind getting wet and muddy and like to work with children in a non-traditional setting. We offer training in Forest School Skills and Practitioner Awards at a number of levels for parents, community workers, teaching and support staff, students and people caring about the environment. The training can be accredited or unaccredited, usually takes place outdoors and is fun. Find out more about training.
Inset & CPD Days
We provide Inset Days for schools across all Key Stages and can design bespoke training for individual schools or groups. Find out more about Inset days.
Locations
We have a variety of special Forest School sites across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot so we can match a group to the best site for their needs. The woodlands are provided by The Penllergare Trust, City & County of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Forestry Commission, Woodland Trust and Wildlife Trust of Wales.
